Damper Testing and Servicing

We specialise in testing, servicing and revalving almost every make of dampers for race, rally and track-day cars to keep them in perfect working condition. We have experience of working closely with customers in BTCC, national championships, clubs championships and track day users.

You can post us your dampers - return postage costs about £12 (+ VAT).

Damper Inspection & Testing

We recommend inspecting/testing dampers annually to make sure they are still in good working order and to identify any potential problems, hopefully, before they become critical.

Damper Inspection & Testing includes;

• External clean and inspection of seals, shafts and any spherical joints
• Dyno test to check for damping rates and that adjustment works
• Check that pairs of damper are well matched

We supply a typed report for each damper and a copy of the dyno graph.

Cost:       £25 per damper (+ VAT)

Damper Servicing

We recommend dampers are serviced after 2 years competition use because we find that the oil starts to break down and contains tiny particles from internal component wear (it looks like used engine oil). Seals can also start to let oil and nitrogen (where relevant) past.

A standard damper service includes;

• Dyno test “as received” (as a benchmark)
• Strip down and thorough internal and external inspection/clean
• Replace seals, oil and re-gas (where relevant) on assembly
• Replace any worn or pitted shims
• Dyno test on assembly
• Check that pairs of damper are well matched

We supply a typed report for each damper and a copy of the dyno graph.

If any parts are damaged or worn we contact you and discuss their replacement, which will be charged in addition to the standard charge.

Cost:       £85 per damper (+ VAT and any special parts)

Damper Revalving

Damper revalving is only needed when it is apparent that the damper cannot be adjusted to give the range of adjustment needed on the car. We usually give each damper a standard service (see above) and then change the internal valving to give the required damping.

We supply a typed report for each damper and a copy of the dyno graph.

We have a lot of experience in this area and can work with you to discuss your exact requirements and whether these can be achieved with your dampers.

Cost:       Standard servicing charge + revalving at £50 per hour

               (usually a total of c£125-175 per damper + VAT)
