Set up Analysis

People come to us either because they have a specific handling problem or because they believe they might not be getting the most from their chassis. In order to help we need to understand the set up they have – therefore we carry out a complete analysis of the current suspension setup. We strip down a front and a rear corner and measure the setup also checking on wear, damage and for problems as we go…

We compile a detailed report that gives you all the figures for your setup. We talk to you about the car and get your feedback using any data that you have available.

What we check as standard…

Dampers

We dyno dampers at their current setting and full soft/full hard settings and provide a Force/Velocity graph with our report (with other data available on request). We calculate the theoretical optimum damping rates and comment on the suitability of the current settings.  more info..

Springs

We test spring rates, calculate the “ride frequency” provided by these springs and comment on their suitability.

Anti roll bars

We measure the rate of each ARB and calculate the combined roll-resistance provided by the springs/ARBs. We assess the suitability of the spring/ARB combination.   more info..

Corner Weights

We measure the individual corner weights, the sprung and the unsprung weights. We measure the C of G of the sprung mass.

Geometry

We measure the camber, caster, tracking and suspension geometry.

Kinematics

With our standard set-up analysis we simply determine the front/rear roll centre locations. However, when required, we can look further typically looking at side-view kinematics and the effect of body movement on instant centres, roll centres, camber gain and toe-steer.  more info..

We prepare Data Sheets for each of the parameters measured and analysed during these checks.

We make recommendations for changes and indicate the relative importance to provide a “batting” order so you can prioritise changes to get the most from your budget.
